Cakes to play with...

I just couldn't resist putting this up....Look at what my kids are playing with now :-). They actually wanted a pretend cake to play with......so their happy Mommy got this for them so that they will play with these instead of bugging her to play with the real thing . Now their mom is also playing with it ;-)

Quick Spring Themed Birthday Cake

I made this quick colourful cake for a lovely little girl. It was a last minute decision to make this cake, did this in a day, hence the flowers are not that perfect.

Easter Picnic

I made this cake for an online cake competition. I was in two minds about doing this. Initially I thought I might try this and made the mad mistake of mentioning it to my dear son. Then I decided I wasn't going to...... too busy, too scared( this would be the second time I would be entering a contest)!!!. Then just two days before the closing date my darling son started bugging me about the Easter cake I promised him I was going to make... why am I not making it, he wanted bunny on it, Easter eggs etc... I couldn't let him down, could I? No harm in trying.... So here is what I created in two days.

 

I have submitted my cake.... and the hopes of winning is very dim, slim, but the enjoyment and experience I got from making this cake is tremendous. There are about almost 150 lovely beautiful cakes to compete with :-). My actual headache starts tomorrow, 'cos I have to vote on the cakes and pick ONLY 5 out of the whole lot. which itself is so hard because they are all stunning creations and then grade the 5 that I have picked. Thank God it will be one less because I can't vote for my cake !!!;-)

Old Hollywood Bachelorette Party Cupcakes

Now I can write about my latest Mystery cupcakes. I wasn't sure whether I could write about it initially because it was a challenge and I wasn't too sure about the rules. Now the results are out and here goes.... This was the first time I have entered a contest of any sort.  These cupcakes was for an inspiration challenge based on a theme and set of colours. 

I didn't end up winning but gained loads of experience doing these. I can also proudly say that I can spot (or have the eye for)  a winning set of cupcakes miles away ???. Out of all the cupcakes there was one lot that I really liked and I actually did comment on it and clicked on the favourite for it ( it didn't win because I did that, It was the editor's choice).... And guess what those cupcakes  ended up winning!!!! WOW not bad huh for a first timer??? CONGRATULATIONS to the Winner of the challenge.

20 Roses & Initials

 

 
My sister-in-law made a surprise anniversary cake for a close relation of hers , she planned to make a three tier cake with lots of flowers and had lots to do. So I helped her and made the roses and the initials for the cake. I was asked to do peach coloured roses. Doing the roses was a bit tedious, doing 20 of them could be exactly that anyway ;-). To make it more interesting I dusted the centre a darker pink.

My sister-in-law also ended up dusting the outside of the rose petals with light pink petal dust so that it matched the Saree which she found out was a different colour to what she initially thought ( peach with a shot of pink throughout).

The initials were a last minute request after the cake was done, so nothing fancy. The first initials I did, I thought was a bit too big to be put on top of the cake which already had a lot of flowers so I did a much simpler cleaner looking initials. Ended up using both on the cake( one on top of the cake and one on the base).

 The surprise party is tomorrow and her cake has turned out really lovely.

Cupcakes: Take 2

My long day didn't stop  with the picnic lunch, I came back and started doing a few more, just to satisfy my self. I wasn't very happy with the Harmony cupcakes . You all must be thinking " What's wrong with this girl? Is she mad?  ;-)....... Well I also don't know.

My Son's Favourite

Anyway I did do a few of them and gave them to my neighbours . They were very happy which made me quite happy too :-)
